Peter was pleased to have the opportunity to introduce Sally to a key member of the Emmanuel Home’s Kenya Committee – Lydia Gatere (pictured with Sally and Peter below).
Lydia and her husband joined the work in 2017 and her input in 2018 has been of particular benefit. She has provided ongoing support to Linda (the Home’s Manager) both in understanding techniques of tracking expenditure and in determining the best training options for some of the young people. We are extremely grateful for Lydia’s support and counsel.

It’s amazing how many pupils are taught in a single class and they are enthusiastic to learn, and well-behaved. There is a strong Christian ethos at the school and this underpins the education provided. The staff are very committed and work hard to maintain high standards – which can’t always be said for some of the government-funded schools.
In February 2018, Peter Skinner and Sally Petit were able to visit all the classes at this school and speak to the pupils supported by the Home / Kanyawegi UK.
